BIOGRAPHY

Angela L. Harris began her career in media communications more than a decade ago as disc jockey at her college radio station, WMUC, while pursuing a degree in radio, television and film communications, at the University of Maryland. She later began working part-time as a production assistant at Valda Music, a commercial music production and publishing company specializing in Jazz, Rhythm & Blues and Pop music. Determined to learn the recording business from the ground-up, she moved into positions of increasing responsibility, gaining experience in a broad range of areas that spanned from copyright clearances to studio production. In 2001, she was promoted to Vice President of Marketing at Valda Entertainment.

While working part-time for Valda Music, Angela simultaneously pursued a successful career in Sales and Marketing at Fortune 200 corporation US Airways where she managed a portfolio of global accounts with revenues exceeding $100 million. Her airline career, spanning thirteen years, peaked with her taking the helm of the company’s Diversity & Work/Life Balance Program for which she built and implemented the business plan. Meanwhile, her efforts at Valda Music had helped to expand the music publishing company into a multi-faceted entertainment company that includes, television ready production, literary and film works. Despite her many accomplishments in the corporate / aviation industry, Angela made the personal choice in 2001 to follow her first passion of media communications by committing  full-time to take on the role of VP of Marketing at Valda Entertainment.

In this role, Angela has established long-term partnerships for Valda Entertainment with organizations such as Black Entertainment Television (BET), a wholly owned subsidiary of Viacom. She currently co-produces the musical soundtracks for the BET Book division’s national television advertising campaign. In addition, she recently produced the internationally televised public service announcement campaign for the Rhythm & Blues Foundation featuring CBS News journalist Ed Bradley and famed musical legends Aretha Franklin and Bonnie Raitt.
